Endocrine Disruptor Exposure Causes Infochemical Dysregulation and an Ecological Cascade from Zooplankton to Algae

چکیده
Endocrine disruption is intimately linked to controlling the population of pollutant-exposed organisms through reproduction and development dysregulation. This study investigated how endocrine in a predator organism could affect prey species biology infochemical communication. Daphnia magna Chlorella vulgaris were chosen as model planktons, respectively, fenoxycarb was used for disrupting system D. magna. Hormones well endo- exometabolomes extracted from daphnids algal cells their culture media analyzed using liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry. Biomolecular perturbations under impaired offspring production hormone dysregulation observed. Differential biomolecular responses C. vulgaris, indicating changes methylation communication, subsequently observed exposure media, containing infochemicals released reproducibly normal abnormal magna, results exposure. The cross-species transfer consequences, initiated mediated demonstrates novel discovery emphasizes broader ecological risk disruptors beyond target organisms.

Fetal and neonatal exposure to the endocrine disruptor methoxychlor causes epigenetic alterations in adult ovarian genes.
Exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals during development could alter the epigenetic programming of the genome and result in adult-onset disease. Methoxychlor (MXC) and its metabolites possess estrogenic, antiestrogenic, and antiandrogenic activities. Previous studies showed that fetal/neonatal exposure to MXC caused adult ovarian dysfunction due to altered expression of key ovarian genes i...

In 1996, the US Congress mandated that the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) create and regulate the Endocrine Disruptor Screening Program. The program tests industrial and agricultural chemicals for hormonal impacts in humans [3] and in wildlife that may disrupt organisms' endocrine systems. The endocrine system regulates the release of small amounts of chemical substances called hormon...
